Bedsores or more commonly known as pressure sores are formed by staying in one state, one position. These generally include jobs of a typist, a clerk, or anyone who doesn’t have to move much and sit in one place only.
These bedsores are damaged skin. It can be found on body parts where bones are closer to the skin, parts like ankles, elbows, back, hips, etc. Generally, people who have a long bed rest, or in case experts ask them to use a wheelchair, are the victims of the bedsores.
The appearance of bedsores is reddish skin and itchy, and when you touch it, it will feel warm. The red color of the skin is due to the damaged tissue under the skin. It would also look more like a crater.
Prevention And Risk Factors
The cause of pressure sores is when you stay in a single position for a prolonged time. Therefore, prevention is simple. Don’t stay in the same place for a prolonged amount of time. Move a little, maybe get up for a glass of water, or go for a walk.
The pressure sores are due to damaged tissue beneath your skin. Hence, regular skin inspections will make sure how frequently you should move. However, we advise that one should move or at least change position every 15 minutes or so. Skin tissues can be damaged if the skin remains wet for a long time.
Moreover, keeping the skin dry also contributes to the prevention of bedsores. Another cause is poor blood circulation throughout the body. Furthermore, eating nutritious food and doing exercise regularly would make sure that you do not have a pressure ulcer or bedsore.
Cure For Bedsores Bed
The treatment depends on the stage of bedsore. If it’s on an early stage, then you can heal it. Otherwise, you will require surgery. In comparison to an open wound, a closed wound will heal more quickly as the bandage will keep the sore moist.
A moist wound heals quicker than a dry injury. Consistent dressings and change of bandage are something you need when treating bedsores. The shift in bandage will remove the dead/damaged tissue from the injury. It also cleans the injury, and the antibiotic cream would help in the accelerated healing of the wound
Along with the bandage, oral antibiotics could also help in healing bedsore. Furthermore, you need to make sure that you do not apply pressure on the wound. This is because it will not only hurt but can harm the injury.
If you do not take proper care of this issue, it can get worse, could lead to body infection, which might be fatal. Therefore, if you take proper and treatment seriously, it is no big deal. However, if you ignore it and you continue with it, it could be fatal. Hence, if blood circulation is not happening in some body parts for 2-3 hours, then there could be a bedsore possibility.
